Full 6 day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport, and drive to parc des volcanos
Depending on arrival time, meet and greet our representative, he will drive you to Parc Nationale de Volcanoes. along the journey to ruhengeri, you will enjoy the beautiful hilly landscapes from which Rwanda is named the “land of athousand hills” this journey, will only be amused at how those hills could be arranged in such a beautiful manner so much in a descending order, with undulating greenery grass all over them. Arrive in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking tour, evening cultural entertainment.
No memory, absolutely no single memory will ever cross your mind apart from the time you come accross the gorillas. The gorillas have tended to occupy the tourism industry for this 21st century. You will be guided in the in the forest which involves hilly hikes and sometimes slippery during the rainy season. But the encounter with a Gorilla is worthwhile the tiredness that takes about 2-6hours before you meet them and you will only be left with these giants for a maximum of 1hour.It is wise to carry packed lunch and water for this exercise. Retire for dinner and overnight stay at booked lodge.
Day 3: Going on to relax at Lake kivu – Kivu serena hotel.
Lake Kivu, on the Rwanda/Congo border, the largest, is like a giant inland sea with some interesting lakeside towns. Kibuye, two hours from Kigali, is a relaxing retreat for swimming, canoeing and water-skiing. Gisenyi, a famous resort in the past, now has a sleepy forgotten air with some fine but neglected buildings from the Belgian era. Lake kivu is a place to visit after gorilla tracking in PNV in Rwanda. Aboat ride on the lake where you will have a chance to see a lot of bird species and different water loving animals on the lake shore will not leave you the same.You will have Dinner and peaceful overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Have an early breakfast at the lodge and after transfer to Nyungwe forest national park with lunch en route. The forest is rich with the shy forest dwellers like the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest and afternoon bird watching
After breakfast, report to the park headquarters in Nyungwe forest for briefing before going for chimpanzee tracking. However, it is advisable to organize packed lunch and plenty of water prior to this expedition since it can sometimes last over 6 hours. In the forest, you will not only see chimpanzees to but also variety of animals and birds like the great blue Turacco, black and white casqued horn bill, colobus monkeys – sometimes as many as 400 in a group.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kigali city proceed to the airport for departure.
Wake up for breakfast, drive to Kigali for lunch. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will have a kigali city tour and visit more Genocide memorial places and also visit the Market places for craft shopping.
